Our Mission

vickers125Our Mission Statement is “To glorify God and equip His Church to advance His kingdom locally and globally”. We are disciples of Jesus Christ committed to fulfilling the Great Commission by going into the world and raising up disciples of Jesus Christ. Through the teaching of God's  Word to all ages, prayer, worship, and a variety of ministry venues, we are reaching out both in our community and around the world, networking together with other ministers and churches to strengthen one another and reap a global harvest.

Humble Beginnings

first_church125Christian Life Church began as a stirring in the hearts of the Founding Pastors, Dr. Steve and Denice Vickers. During a time of prayer, the Lord directed them to plant a church in Montgomery, Alabama. So, on August 3rd, 1980, they gathered fifteen people in their home, and Christian Life Church began. During the very first service someone was saved, and this set a precedent that is ongoing today. They had asked the Lord to send in people of all races, cultures and backgrounds, and He answered their prayers.

The church began renting a small church building. As the congregation grew, it moved several times to leased facilities until it purchased our current facility where we held our first service in October of 1992. We have Classes for all ages on Sunday mornings as well as our Sunday morning service and Sunday afternoon Hispanic Service. Midweek Bible Study is on Wednesday nights with classes for all ages. A variety of small groups meet throughout the month.

Our Vision

Throughout the history of Christian Life Church, founding Pastors, Dr. Steve and Denice Vickers, and the CLC staff have ministered to the lost and hurting.  Through worship, prayer, services, classes, small groups, altar ministry or one-on-one discipleship and personal ministry, people’s lives have been touched and changed over the years by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Our vision has always included ministry to ministers and their churches. Dr. Vickers has a number of pastors and churches that look to him for oversight and direction.  He and Denice have travelled in the United States and to many nations, encouraging and envisioning national ministry leaders. Christian Life Church has supported many missionaries and missions works over the years, covering five continents. We continue to have a strong heart for missions, supporting a number of missionaries and missions works monthly and others as special needs arise.

hci_logo125Because of the call on his life to minister to ministers, Dr. Vickers, along with a number of Apostolic Leaders, founded Harvest Churches International in September 2003. HCI’s mission statement is "Strengthening the Local Church to Reap a Global Harvest". As the President of this non-profit organization, Dr. Vickers is working together with apostolic and grass roots leadership to build additional leaders, minister to ministers, plant churches and Bible Schools both in the U.S. and overseas, and network churches and ministries together for the purpose of reaching the lost in these last days.  Harvest Churches International is networking churches together in Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi on the African Continent and in the Philippine Islands. Plans are in the works now to launch new Bible Schools in Palm Desert, California; Montgomery, Alabama; Uganda, Africa; Bhutan, India, and a 2nd Bible School in the Philippines within the next twelve months. Together we are accomplishing more than we can individually.

CLC in Alexander City

whitehills125Christian Life Church has been involved in a number of church plants over the years, the most recent of which was in Alexander City, Alabama, in 2006.  Pastors Bruce and Sandra Whitehill have been a part of CLC since 1987. They went out from CLC and planted a church in Burlington, Vermont, where they pastored for fifteen years before coming home to Alabama. They were installed as the Pastors of Christian Life Church, Alexander City, in October of 2006, and the church is growing, thriving and reaching out to the surrounding area.

The Foundation Is Solid

solid_foundation125Christian Life Church has a solid foundation, and the church is moving forward in the vision established by our founders, Dr. Steve and Denice Vickers. From its humble beginnings in their home, Christian Life Church has become a dynamic force for the Kingdom of God throughout the world. It's a multi-racial, multicultural body of believers, reaching out to the lost and hurting and meeting needs through relationships and a variety of ministries.  Though there have been many changes and challenges over our 30-year history, the constant that remains is the presence and faithfulness of God. Christian Life Church is strong because God is faithful.
