baptism

Water Baptism is an ordinance of the Church as a commandment from our Lord Jesus Christ.  It is an act of outward obedience, testifying of our new union with Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. It is a declaration that all ties to sin and the world have been broken over our lives.

  • 1Peter 3:18-21
  • Romans 6:4-11

Water Baptism does not provide regeneration; only faith in Jesus can bring forth true regeneration of man. The Bible teaches that only people who have truly believed on the Lord Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior should be Baptized in water.

We encourage you to read these scriptures concerning water baptism:

  • Matthew 28:18-20
  • Colossians 2:12
  • Titus 3:5
  • 1Peter 3:18-21
  • Romans 6:4-11

If you would like to be baptized, please pick up a brochure in the foyer and fill it out to submit your request. Baptisms are generally held on the first Sunday of the month. On the date of baptism, every candidate will be given a short lesson and practical instruction concerning water baptism prior to the ceremony.  Missing this lesson will result in the baptism being rescheduled, so please arrive 15 minutes before service.

While Water Baptismal Robes are provided, all candidates should wear dark slacks and dark t-shirts under the robes. Bring a complete change of clothing to change into following the Baptismal Ceremony.

  • Bring a towel and a plastic bag for your wet clothes.
  • Video and picture taking will be permitted during the baptismal service.
  • The minimum age for water baptism at CLC is 6 years old.
